Description
Salvia officinalis
Sage Essential Oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the sage plant. It possesses a strong, herbaceous, camphoraceous aroma with warm, slightly spicy undertones. Just a drop or two of Sage Essential Oil can add powerful clarifying properties to any blend, though it must be used with caution due to its potency and thujone content.
Sage Essential Oil can be useful in diffuser blends intended to help ease mental fatigue, poor concentration, and support respiratory health, though it should be used sparingly. It is valued for its astringent and antimicrobial properties and is often used in very carefully diluted topical applications to help relieve muscle aches, excessive perspiration, and support oily skin. Sage should be avoided during pregnancy, by those with epilepsy or high blood pressure, and used only in low dilutions (see safety notes below).
Emotionally, Sage Essential Oil is clarifying and strengthening, helping to ease mental exhaustion, improve memory and focus, dispel confusion and grief, and promote feelings of wisdom, clarity, and emotional renewal during times of transition or mental fog.
